Well, 2021 has felt like the fastest year of my life! We have been busy, which has been wonderful. The furniture delays continue but luckily, I have patient clients who know good quality pieces are worth the wait.  In exciting news, Baltimore Magazine’s Readers Poll listed Jenn Cameron Interiors as runner-up in the category of “Best Interior Designer.” A wonderful honor!

Also, exciting...Valley Living Magazine published an interview and photos with one of my clients regarding their recent kitchen update. Please check out the article to learn more about some of the design “behind the scenes”.

I wish everyone a Happy and Healthy 2022! I will be in New Orleans for 2 weeks this holiday season and I always come back with an extra suitcase filled with décor and lots of inspiration from the beautiful southern décor. Thank you for being a part of my design journey and I can’t wait to show you what we’ve been up to.

Megg Court

My “Megg Court” client, now working from home, wanted an at-home office that was functional but, also attractive as the space is directly adjacent to the 2 story foyer. Custom built-ins were created that lined the back wall, along with all new furniture, rug and accessories to create this warm and inviting space. Adjacent to the Office is the Dining Room. The client put total faith in me to go with a dramatic black and gold wallpaper. It is the perfect combo of traditional and modern. The details in this room make me so happy; incorporating both family heirlooms with new pieces; it’s a dining room they can enjoy for years.

Diamond Crest

“Diamond Crest” received a custom-built-designed fireplace along with new flooring and design details to transform their Family Room into a unique transitional space. The Powder Room received a major makeover with the fun, black and white tile floor, gorgeous vanity and Julie Neill (fellow New Orleanian) beautiful floral sconces.

Stream Court

As a designer, there are certain projects that fulfill all of one’s creative boxes.  For me, this was designing a "glam sunroom" from the initial architect drawings to the final install.

The “Stream Court” Sunroom was designed to have a glam vibe, letting in natural light, soft textures, a mix of traditional and modern decor, sentimental value (repurposing an heirloom chair) and more.  As I worked with the client, we knew that the 16-foot ceilings we were dreaming of, would require a statement chandelier.  This gorgeous 40 light chandelier by John Richard was it! A custom ottoman was designed by a local tradesman to include the gorgeous leg details the client desired. The accent glass tile wall allowed the room to have an additional statement which enhanced the room’s other beautiful details.

As a former professional Musical Theatre Performer, when I walked onto the stage on opening night, there was an excitement and thrill that I will always remember and cherish. With this glam sunroom, when the final details were installed, I felt the thrill of opening night once again

Hillspring Road

“Hillspring Road” had a Living Room that wasn’t being used. We added functional swivel chairs, coffee table, décor and an updated fireplace and mantle.  This is now a space that will be used for adult nights and family gatherings.

Ruby Court

Lastly, “Ruby Court’s” Dining Room is a true mix of traditional and modern. With an antique credenza, painted a striking glossy hunter green, custom Thibaut window treatments, an antelope rug, beautiful chairs and a stunning chandelier, this room is inviting and a “wow” at the same time. The Powder Room comes alive with the striped wallpaper and whimsical Schumacher butterfly valance. It is such a cheery space and I know the client thoroughly enjoys their “uniquely theirs” spaces.

Bridlepath Court

The “Bridlepath Court” was a complete kitchen renovation. The client’s home original kitchen from the 1990’s was in need of a brighter and more updated space.  We enlarged the kitchen window to provide more sunlight, increased the counter space by adding a larger center island and also created additional function with bright cabinetry.

The powder room also received a facelift. I love wallpaper and think the powder room is a great place to include wallpaper. We turned a former green painted powder room into a “wow” space with painted blue trim, wallpaper and a fun hexagon tile floor to compliment the large scale wallpaper. We also turned a coat closet into a “mudroom” and made the laundry room a space to enjoy doing the laundry.

At Project “Brynmor Court,” my clients downsized from a larger home to a condo. As their designer, I worked on space planning and ways to utilize and update their current pieces. We added gorgeous custom window treatments and accent Schumacher wallpapers throughout the condo.

Design Tips

Don’t be afraid to use Color! We’ve all had a pretty “gloomy” year and we want bright and happiness around us much as we can. So, your home should have it as well!

Another big trend and one that I hope stays around (well let’s be honest, it’s always on trend if you love it!) is mixing metals! It makes a space so unique and feels curated over time.

Design does take time.. so use the time you need to find pieces that you love!

What's happening this month?

It has been a busy January month here at Jenn Cameron Interiors! With each newsletter, I will share project updates, design tips and "fun finds" to update your home with a quick change. Designing people's home has been a wonderful and creative distraction from the realities of life during Covid times. I truly love spending time with clients, learning about their family design needs, and how to best utilize their space. I find this job to be rewarding, creative, fun and fulfilling.

Heights Avenue

The "Heights Avenue" project began with a call from the client who wanted to find a way to update her family heirloom credenza. As soon as I saw it, I felt strongly that we should preserve the integrity and beauty of the traditional piece. So, instead of painting it, as the client suggested, I proposed to keep the credenza, but design around it; incorporating some less traditional designs. To do this, we added a gorgeous wallpaper and a chair rail, a natural, casual textured rug, a beautiful white chandelier and glass sconces from my favorite lighting designer, Julie Neill (who happens to be based out of New Orleans). We also chose a velvet settee and custom lumbar pillow to complete the space. I look forward to them enjoying many wonderful family gatherings in their new space.

Ringleaf

The "Ringleaf" clients reached out to me in search of a new furniture layout and designs. Their previous room had dark furniture that was a bit oversized for the space. To brighten the space, we designed custom “performance fabric” furniture that lightened the feel and vibe, painted the fireplace, and introduced a lovely textured custom-leather ottoman. Finally, my favorite step, adding the décor! That’s when, the room truly comes to life! Sourcing local décor pieces but, also using some of the clients’ personal treasures allowed the space to shine to its fullest.

Blackberry Road

The “Blackberry Road” powder room was updated to meet the family’s more contemporary style. The powder room received wallpaper, new lighting and mirror, and for fun, a current design trend I’m loving… we painted the ceiling and trim in a high gloss, soft purple. Such a fun space!

Design Tips

Add Greenery! I cannot emphasize this enough. And, while I love live plants… if you don’t have a green thumb like me, faux greenery adds warmth and can really add so much life to a space.

Fun Finds

I am always on the search for decorative boxes. These can be used on bookshelves, layered on coffee tables and more. Here are some that I love for their texture, scale and style.
