August 2021 Newsletter

Hope everyone is enjoying the end of Summer. It’s hard to believe that Summer is almost over and soon we will back to school and fall activities. While this year may be a scary time for our children and the world, I am grateful that my boys will be back in school physically. In the design world, the demand continues to be present, which makes it a very exciting and busy time to be a designer.

Bridlepath Court

The “Bridlepath Court” was a complete kitchen renovation. The client’s home original kitchen from the 1990’s was in need of a brighter and more updated space.  We enlarged the kitchen window to provide more sunlight, increased the counter space by adding a larger center island and also created additional function with bright cabinetry.

The powder room also received a facelift. I love wallpaper and think the powder room is a great place to include wallpaper. We turned a former green painted powder room into a “wow” space with painted blue trim, wallpaper and a fun hexagon tile floor to compliment the large scale wallpaper. We also turned a coat closet into a “mudroom” and made the laundry room a space to enjoy doing the laundry.

At Project “Brynmor Court,” my clients downsized from a larger home to a condo. As their designer, I worked on space planning and ways to utilize and update their current pieces. We added gorgeous custom window treatments and accent Schumacher wallpapers throughout the condo.

“Nothing refreshes a room quite like a fresh coat of paint. And although your walls get the most attention when painting a room, there are many overlooked areas in your home that can be brightened up with a splash of color. Whether you’re looking to paint an entire wall or add subtle hints of color to perk up your living space, we’ve got you covered.

We reached out to experts from Vancouver, BC to Las Vegas, NV, who revealed unexpected places where you can get creative and add accent colors to liven up your home. Check out their ideas to get inspired!”

20) Spruce up your wall trims

“After the gloomy year we’ve experienced, color pops and accents are the perfect additions to making your room unique and happy. Pops of color enhance the feel and interest of a room, and adding bright trim paint to your room awakens the space and makes it shine”. –Jenn Cameron Interiors

The “Manchester Road” clients reached out for a new family room. After our initial visit, it was decided that a new floor plan was needed, as well as, all new furniture and décor. The new pieces brightened the space and by using all performance fabrics, we created a room they can enjoy for years.  We designed Custom window treatments which always bring a room to a whole new level and is the “jewelry to your outfit.” We also updated their powder room with a gorgeous and classic Schumacher wallpaper, herringbone floors, and brightened their foyer with a new stair runner, molding details on the walls, painted stairwell and more!

Design Tips

Don’t be afraid to use Color! We’ve all had a pretty “gloomy” year and we want bright and happiness around us much as we can. So, your home should have it as well!

Another big trend and one that I hope stays around (well let’s be honest, it’s always on trend if you love it!) is mixing metals! It makes a space so unique and feels curated over time.

Design does take time.. so use the time you need to find pieces that you love!

What's happening this month?

It has been a busy January month here at Jenn Cameron Interiors! With each newsletter, I will share project updates, design tips and "fun finds" to update your home with a quick change. Designing people's home has been a wonderful and creative distraction from the realities of life during Covid times. I truly love spending time with clients, learning about their family design needs, and how to best utilize their space. I find this job to be rewarding, creative, fun and fulfilling.

Heights Avenue

The "Heights Avenue" project began with a call from the client who wanted to find a way to update her family heirloom credenza. As soon as I saw it, I felt strongly that we should preserve the integrity and beauty of the traditional piece. So, instead of painting it, as the client suggested, I proposed to keep the credenza, but design around it; incorporating some less traditional designs. To do this, we added a gorgeous wallpaper and a chair rail, a natural, casual textured rug, a beautiful white chandelier and glass sconces from my favorite lighting designer, Julie Neill (who happens to be based out of New Orleans). We also chose a velvet settee and custom lumbar pillow to complete the space. I look forward to them enjoying many wonderful family gatherings in their new space.

Ringleaf

The "Ringleaf" clients reached out to me in search of a new furniture layout and designs. Their previous room had dark furniture that was a bit oversized for the space. To brighten the space, we designed custom “performance fabric” furniture that lightened the feel and vibe, painted the fireplace, and introduced a lovely textured custom-leather ottoman. Finally, my favorite step, adding the décor! That’s when, the room truly comes to life! Sourcing local décor pieces but, also using some of the clients’ personal treasures allowed the space to shine to its fullest.

Blackberry Road

The “Blackberry Road” powder room was updated to meet the family’s more contemporary style. The powder room received wallpaper, new lighting and mirror, and for fun, a current design trend I’m loving… we painted the ceiling and trim in a high gloss, soft purple. Such a fun space!

Design Tips

Add Greenery! I cannot emphasize this enough. And, while I love live plants… if you don’t have a green thumb like me, faux greenery adds warmth and can really add so much life to a space.

Fun Finds

I am always on the search for decorative boxes. These can be used on bookshelves, layered on coffee tables and more. Here are some that I love for their texture, scale and style.
